In Dogs of Springtown, some dogs may need to fight for dominance, etc. This whole thread describes the fighting system we have. We also have a staff account that decides the winner of the matches.
There are different kinds of fighting: •Dominance •Practice •Territory Claim •Battle •Challenge •Fight to Death
DOMINANCE
Sometimes dogs may challenge others for dominance. Often dominance fighting involves blood and all of that, but no death. Usually dominance fighting involves two dogs fighting for dominance, and they battle it out until one of the opponents submits to the dog battling them. Mainly only dogs of high authority may be fought for dominance. In dominance battles, the Battle Judge doesn't decide the winner, it's just whoever submits first. The winner of the battle gains 80 Points as a prize, and the loser, well, they have to find someone to help treat their wounds. In dominance fighting, the dog who is challenging starts first, and gets to choose what move to make first. For each move a character makes in any battle, they earn 5 Points for each move. The character can choose a defense(defend) or offense(attack) move.
Height, weight, and other physical traits play a major role in any kind of fighting except Practice. Depending on a character's physical traits, they may gain some advantages or disadvantages in battle. No powerplaying or godmodding is allowed in any kind of fighting.
PRACTICE
Practice fighting is different than all of the other kinds of battle. Practice fighting is basically training, and it's pretty simple. No blood and all of that, just mainly tackling, etc. Practice fighting is only used in packs mainly for training. Some Whelps may practice, but usually Trainees practice with their mentors. Practice fighting has a slightly similar process to the other fight types. There's no Battle Judge either. First, the thread starter chooses a kind of offense or defense move, and earns 5 Points for whatever move they make. Then, the other dog chooses a defense move and earns 5 Points for the move they make. The play-fight continues until one of the dogs is exhausted or the mentor chooses to end the practice session. The winner earns 10 Points.
TERRITORY CLAIM
Territory Claim is another kind of fighting type. It's similar to Dominance, except there's more Points and a slightly different process. Only dogs seeking to claim a territory may do this kind of fighting. The only dog that can join a Territory Claim battle thread is the dog that owns the territory the other dog is attempting to claim, being Territory Claim threads must be PRIVATE. The process goes as follows:
•Thread owner starts battle by picking a defense or offense move, earns 5 Points for move. •Thread participant picks a defense or offense move in response, earns 5 Points for move. •Process repeats until a dog submits. Winner earns 50 Points, loser has to surrender and no longer gets the territory.
BATTLE
Battles are more aggressive and involve more blood and fighting. Death may also happen in Battle threads, and there's more participants. The Battle Judge is responsible for picking the winner based on what happened in the thread. Overall, Battle threads are similar to Dominance and Territory Claim, but more bloodspill, more aggression, more fighting, more Points, and even some awards. The process is below.
•Thread owner chooses offense or defense move to start, and picks opponent, earns 10 Points for move. •Thread participants choose opponent and a defense/offense move in response, earns 10 Points for move. •Process repeats until a dog submits, dies, passes out due to injury, etc. Battle Judge picks the winner. •The winner earns 100 Points and gets a reward.
CHALLENGE
Challenges are basically like Territory Claim and Dominance threads and even have the same process, except they have a different purpose.
FIGHT TO DEATH
Fight to Deaths are more dangerous threads and are private. Often people who want to kill off a character make these threads as their characters. There's no Battle Judge, and dogs cannot survive in this thread, at least one dog won't survive. The process is very similar to Territory Claim, Dominance, and Battle, except there's no rewards of any kind and the battle continues until a dog dies in the thread.
